Last year saw the release of Winnie the Pooh: Bloody and Honey, a horror reimagining of the classic children’s story. The film, which is currently available to rent from the comfort of your couch, features Winnie the Pooh and Piglet going on a murder rampage.
The film apparently did pretty well for itself, for this year we are getting a sequel; Rhys Frake-Waterfield, who directed the first movie, returned to direct the sequel.
Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 will feature more characters from the 100 Acre Woods, although, they too will be bloodthirsty. Alongside Pooh and Piglet, Blood and Honey 2 includes Rabbit, Tigger, and Owl.
“Following the events of the first film, a destructive rage grows as Winnie-the-Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, Rabbit, and Owl find their home and their lives endangered after Christopher Robin reveals their existence. Not wanting to live in the shadows any longer, they decide to embark on a murderous rampage through the town of Ashdown and get their revenge on Christopher once and for all.”
Although no exact release date has been provided at the time of this reporting, we do have a new trailer for Blood and Honey 2, which you can watch below.
As a reminder, this movie is not associated with Disney; the long short is that A.A. Milne’s original Winnie The Pooh entered the public domain earlier in 2023, and Blood and Honey 1 & 2 are based on that work.
Speaking of beloved children’s stories being adapted into works of horror, we are also getting a movie based on Mickey Mouse called Mickey’s Mouse Trap. The Mickey Mouse of this film is based on Steamboat Willie, an iconic 1928 animated short film that is one of the first major works to debut Mickey.
