If there was to be only one band to ever cover the Deftones, it should be Health. The Los Angeles noise rock act just dropped a cover of Deftones’ 1997 song “Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away),” and it’s incredible.

Having formed in 2005, Health has had quite a prolific output, releasing a plethora of albums that sonically blend noise, rock, industrial, and metal.

Both acts are remarkably skillful in crafting songs with contrasting atmospheres, at times offering a duality of serene meets heavy.

When it comes to Health’s cover of “Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away),” not only do they hit it out of the park in capturing the vibe of the original Deftones cut, but they go beyond that, weaving in their flair for industrial heaviness.

The blend of guitar, electronics, and distortion come together to provide this powerful air of melody that is tranquil yet groovy; then from time to time, Health injects touches of industrial crunch, which bring a new dimension of aggression to the track.

Health’s “Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away)” is fantastic, and you can stream it below.

Last year the band released their latest studio album, Rat Wars, and next month they will be hitting the road for a new tour; you can find the band’s upcoming tour dates below.

Also last year, we named Health as one of the 10 bands that is keeping rock and roll alive.
