Throughout the years, Corey Taylor has met a great number of famous and beloved rockers, some of whom have even become good friends of his.

In a new feature from Classic Rock, the Slipknot singer reflects on some of the famous encounters he’s had over the course of his career, sharing an array of compelling tales. Among the various stories he shares Taylor brings up Dave Grohl, mentioning how, upon meeting, the two frontmen got into one hell of an intense match of table tennis.

According to Taylor, the Foo Fighters singer is super into table tennis, going as far as to note “he’s so fucking aggressive about it.”

In his story of meeting Grohl, Taylor talks about how he was pushed to play against the Foo Fighters frontman in an effort for Stone Sour to be on good terms with him.

Reflecting on this experience, Taylor shares the following:

“I met Dave when Stone Sour were making [2006 album] Come What(ever) May. We recorded it at his studio, 606. He’d come down and kick our asses at table tennis. He’s so fucking aggressive about it. If we were up on him, he’d be banging his paddle on the table: ‘Come on! Shit!’ He was not happy when we did beat him, let’s put it that way.

It got to the point that they ended up making me play him to get back in his good graces, because I sucked so bad at it. I’d be the one who fell on his sword to keep Dave happy at table tennis. I was thrown to the lions a lot.”

It’s pretty comical to picture Dave Grohl being aggro as hell in a game of table tennis and playfully lashing out. We wonder if he’s still as intense about the sport nowadays.
