The Callous Daoboys, the experimental Atlanta six-piece renowned for their genre-blending heavy music have announced their latest EP, God Smiles Upon The Callous Daoboys.
Slated for release on October 20 via MNRK Heavy / Modern Static, the band has also given fans a taste of what they’ve gotten into by dropping the song “Waco Jesus.”
The song is total chaos, mixing together metalcore, progressive metal into some strange mix that sounds like if Maynard from Tool got really into The Locust. Vocalist Carson Pace delves into the song’s theme, stating, “‘Waco Jesus’ is about insecurity, projecting that insecurity and not doing anything to solve it despite being advised against such insecurities. It’s about being unable to accept a compliment.”
Carson Pace, reflecting on the band’s journey and their vision for their music, remarked, “In a way it feels like the band just started, even though we’ve been at it for the last six years. We aspire to be the face of this unique genre-swapping heavy music, where it’s impossible to categorize it under a single tag. The band’s essence is like, ‘Hey, this is The Callous Daoboys!’”
