Bruce Dickinson of the English heavy metal band Iron Maiden is quite a theatrical frontman; throughout the band’s history, Dickinson has been known to run around the stage and take part in a plethora of wild antics.

Sometimes he might sword fight a giant Eddie, maybe he will play with a little doll, or other times, he might end up breaking a mallet and start licking it.

That last example might come across as pretty random, but this is something that the frontman actually did during one of Iron Maiden’s recent shows.

At one point during a concert that took place on July 7th at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham, England, Dickinson had a mallet in hand and was smashing a gong with it; after some strikes, the mallet broke.

With a shocked expression on his face, and with the inability to smash the gong, Dickinson decided to lick the mallet.

After licking it, the frontman then brought it to his mouth and pretended to play it like a flute.

For all the goofy and wild stuff he has done on stage, this mallet incident is certainly one of the weirder things Dickinson has done during a show. Below you can find the video of Bruce Dickinson playing around with the mallet, as well as Iron Maiden’s upcoming tour dates; the band will also be taking part in this year’s heavy metal festival “Power Trip.”
