As hot as it’s been lately, many of us would appreciate a good soaking. Still, that wasn’t exactly what nü-metal legends Disturbed had in mind when their pyrotechnics set off the venue’s sprinkler system during a recent concert.

Although  their breakthrough hit “Down With the Sickness” came out over 30 years ago, Disturbed have maintained a ravenous fanbase over the years largely due to their powerful live performances. While the band is known for mixing dramatic light shows and pyrotechnics into their concerts, it was the impromptu hydro-effects that fans were discussing after their July 27th stop in Houston.

When the incident occurred, Disturbed were just about to close out their headlining performance at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. As the band tore through a passionate rendition of their phenomenal 2008 track “Inside the Fire,” Disturbed engulfed the stage in an array of flames. Impressive as the display was, things got too hot for the venue to handle, and water poured down on the unsuspecting band.

Although it would likely rattle a lesser band, Disturbed didn’t miss a beat during the incident; with frontman David Draiman introducing each member of the band to applause at the end of the song. Before leaving the stage, Draiman shot out one further remark. “Make some noise for the fucking sprinkler system,” he exclaimed..

Draiman shared a lighthearted post about the incident on social media following the concert.

“Well, last night in Houston was a first! Our pyro set off the fire suppression system onstage at the end of the set for a surprise rain shower onstage lol.”

Disturbed’s tour with Breaking Benjamin and JINJER continues through September. Their most recent album, Divisive, was released in 2022.

Check out footage of the performance, and the sprinkler downpour, in the video below.
