Corey Taylor says that the future of his band Stone Sour is currently up in the air because of “hindrances.” This is what the singer had to say about Stone Sour and the reason why they’re still on a hiatus.
Stone Sour been on an indefinite hiatus since 2020 and there are no signs of a comeback any time soon. In an interview with The Green Room podcast in September 2022, Taylor said that he felt that “Stone Sour has kind of run its course for now. We all talked as a band and decided to kind of put Stone Sour on indefinite hiatus.”
Taylor has been focusing on his solo career and Slipknot and said this about Stone Sour in a new interview with Rock Antenne, transcribed by Metal Hammer:
“It’s not that I don’t miss some of the guys in Stone Sour – I still talk to them. But as this stage, I refuse to compromise my vision and my art because of certain people’s hindrances. And that’s all I’ll say.”
We can’t help but wonder what “hindrances” the musician is referring to and what exactly Taylor’s vision is for Stone Sour.
In the interview, he goes onto to rave about his solo band and how much he loves working with them. His band includes guitarist Christian Martucci and Zach Throne, bassist Eliot Lorango and drummer Dustin Robert and Taylor describes them as “such clutch dudes.”
Corey Taylor’s second solo album CMF2 is set to come out later this year and the singer claims it’s “one of the best things I’ve ever done.”
Between Slipknot and his solo work, Corey Taylor more than has his hands full with performing. Both Stone Sour and Slipknot require creative compromise given working with other musicians, whereas everything involving the CMFT albums has been solely Taylor.
Who knows what Taylor will do next?
