It’s been a whirlwind of a day for Slipknot maggots.

First, Clown announced that he will be absent from the band’s upcoming European tour due to his wife’s health issues. Per his social media posts:

“Hello to all of our fans, it’s the clown. I would like to take a moment to tell everyone that I’m back home supporting my wife through some health issues, and I’ll be back on the road as soon as I can.”

Then, the band made a whopper of an announcement early this evening with a social media post that longtime member Craig Jones was no longer in the band.

Brief and ambiguous, the statement read simply:

“To our fans, Slipknot is announcing that we have parted ways with Craig Jones. We wish Jones all the best for the future.”

Making things even more confusing, the band then quickly deleted all of the social media posts about Craig’s departure. Did someone jump the gun on the announcement? Was the fan backlash too much? Who knows for sure, but the plot just thickened.

Without any context, the band made a new post on their socials a few minutes ago. A new member to replace Craig? Too soon to say for sure, but sure appears that way:

Regardless of what’s going on in the Slipknot camp right now, Criag Jones will surely be missed.

Throughout his time with Slipknot, Jones made significant contributions to the band’s sound. His expertise in electronics and computer programming allowed him to create various samples, speeches, and noises that added an atmospheric and haunting quality to their music.

His unique talent also earned him the nickname “133,” a reference to the processor speed of his computer at the time.

As one of the longest-serving members of Slipknot, Jones played a vital role in shaping the band’s distinctive sound. He participated in the recording of all of Slipknot’s full-length albums, from their 1999 self-titled debut to their latest release in 2022.

His innovative use of sampling and keyboards added depth and texture to their music, contributing to their success as one of the most influential heavy bands of all time.

While his time with Slipknot may have come to an end, his contributions to the band’s legacy will continue to be celebrated by fans worldwide.
