There’s not a whole lot that British rock outfit Static Dress can’t do.

Despite being a band for under four years, the band already has a pretty sizable discography under their belt. Their music summons up everything from emo to shoegaze to hardcore, and all of it maintains cohesion. The band recently announced they were signing to Roadrunner Records, and to celebrate, are re-releasing their 2022 album Rouge Carpet Disaster.

As part of that re-release, Static Dress have re-imagined several of the songs from the original album, including “such.a.shame.” which now gets a new “Smoking Lounge Redux.”

In its original form, “such.a.shame.” brought in the vibes of Taking Back Sunday and other mid-aughts big-room emo groups. It was a total banger top to bottom, and one of the standouts of the record.

This new version strips away its original heavy guitar work, with a haunting piano melody in its place as well as some of the modular vocal effects the band employs. Singer Olli Aplleyard kills it here, showing off his range and talents in the new dynamic of this version.

Check out the video below. You can also catch Static Dress with fellow -core revivalists nothing, nowhere and SeeYouSpaceCowboy this fall. Grab your tickets here.
