While Mick Mars has had a lot of heated things to say about Nikki Sixx and other members of Mötley Crüe, what does he think of John 5 stepping in as the band’s guitarist? Well, per John 5 himself, we at least know what Mars had to say to him upon finding out John was joining Mötley Crüe.
During a recent conversation on Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk, John 5 was asked an array of questions, and at one point during the interview, the guitarist talked about his relationship with Mars.
In talking about his relationship with Mars, John says that “Me and Mick, we talk all the time. We exchange Christmas gifts and things like that.”
The new Mötley Crüe member also shared how Mars reacted to the news of John joining the band. John says that when the news came out that he had joined Mötley Crüe, Mars sent him a text. Regarding what Mars said in that text, John shares the following (as transcribed by Loudwire):
“When I was announced as the guitar player, he was one of the very first texts that I got and he said, ‘You’re going to kill it.’ It’s good. It’s not like it’s some stranger coming in. We have a great respect for each other.”
There you have it folks – based on what John 5 has shared here, it does not appear that there is any bad blood between the former Rob Zombie guitarist and Mars.
The band will be performing a lot this summer with John 5, but it’s still confusing where things stand with Mick Mars. Mars has said that, regarding his initial retirement announcement, he was only retiring from touring, but was still down to record music and play one-off shows. That said, the rest of Mötley Crüe, including John 5, is currently working on new music.
What do you make of the whole controversy involving Mick Mars and the rest of Mötley Crüe?
