Today marks the 40th anniversary of Dio‘s debut studio album Holy Diver, which is one of the greatest heavy metal albums ever made. While the album as a whole is an amazing achievement, it also features the most iconic song ever made by Ronnie James Dio – the self-titled track “Holy Diver.”

In celebration of this amazing anniversary, we wanted to share with you all a mix of “Holy Diver” that absolutely blew us away.

This version of the song features only Dio’s isolated vocal track, and wow… it sounds surreal.

If you are interested in a musical experience that is chill-inducing, but also incredibly captivating, you owe it to yourself to check out this isolated vocal mix of Dio’s “Holy Diver” (which you can find below).

Ronnie James Dio was, and will always be remembered as, one of the greatest voices to ever perform in the realm of heavy metal. Hell, he is one of the greatest vocalists to ever perform in music in general.

The album Holy Diver was released on May 25th, 1983. Alongside Ronnie James Dio, the other musicians who worked on the album are Vinny Appice (drums), Jimmy Bain (bass and keyboards), and Vivian Campbell (guitar).

Speaking of the late Ronnie James Dio, we recently highlighted the late Dio and Black Sabbath singer in our “10 Greatest Heavy Metal Singers of All Time” feature.

We have included the excerpt regarding what we have to say about Dio, but if you are curious to learn who else made it onto our list, click on the link below.

“The late Ronnie James Dio is also one of the most profound metal singers of all time. Dio had a talent for hitting high notes and providing an epic atmosphere to his singing. Much like the exhilarating instrumental performances from his bands, Dio used his voice to provide a similar electrifying experience.”
