To those theologically inclined, a commonly accepted version of hell is pure repetition.

The inversion of heaven’s infinity, hell is inane tedium that the doomed soul never gets used to.

Purgatory is a different kind of suffering. It is a state of grace in which further atonement is required for mortal sins.

The soul will eventually reach heaven, but only after the requisite period of agonized reflection.

Purgatory is not infinite, but it sure feels that way. The wayward soul is… trapped.

Much of the planet has felt this way since Donald Trump stepped onto that fucking escalator nearly eight years ago on June 16th of 2015.

As Neil Young’s “Rockin’ In The Free World” ironically blared away and paid employees waved signs emblazoned with his now infamous slogan, the reality television star and cartoon of a human being shifted the very fabric of society. Nothing has been the same since and it feels like it will never, ever end.

Several years ago, YouTuber Lars Von Retriever gained viral fame for his meticulous and hilariously crafted Metal Trump videos.

From his renditions of traditional classics like Metallica‘s “Master of Puppets” and Megadeth’s “Peace Sells”, to grunge and nü-metal anthems like Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and System Of A Down‘s “Chop Suey”, Retriever endeavored to “Make America Metal Again” and give us a little levity as we collectively anguished in the never-ending news cycle.

There is something prophetic about Lars Von Retriever’s work on the Trump version of Slayer’s immortal track “Raining Blood”.

The lyrics certainly fit the state of the world, and clever editing that incorporates his dumb little dances with mock headbanging and air drums is good for a much needed laugh on these dark days of American politics.

Watch Donald Trump embrace his inner headbanger below, and feel free to cross reference it with Slayer’s original. You might need it….
