This past weekend in Florida, at the Welcome to Rockville music festival, Tool singer Maynard James Keenan took to the stage and performed in drag (which, in Florida, is quite a big deal right now).

While the frontman has not provided any statement regarding the decision to perform in drag, one could look at his performance as a form of protest against recent legislation signed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

Last week, as reported by CNN, DeSantis signed into law new restrictions on drag shows, gender-affirming treatment for minors, bathroom usage, and even personal pronoun usage. For quite a while now, DeSantis has pursued legislation that targets drag shows and the trans community.

Many people have spoken out against DeSantis’ stances, and one person who appears to not care much for the Governor’s point of view is Keenan.

On May 21st, Keenan took to the stage with Tool at Welcome to Rockville, the singer rocking lipstick, a blonde wig, and fake breasts.

Per the new controversial bill that DeSantis recently signed, there is a point noting that minors are barred from attending drag shows; as noted by Consequence, given that Welcome to Rockville is an all-ages event, Keenan would technically be in violation of breaking this new law (the idea being that he is performing drag at an all-ages show).

Below you will find several photos featuring the frontman rocking out in drag at Welcome to Rockville.
