
Tina Turner, the “Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll,” has passed away at the age of 83. She was an incredibly talented singer and performer who enchanted audiences with her beautiful voice for over 60 years.
As reported by People, Turner passed away today (May 24th). Per a statement from Turner’s publicist Bernard Doherty:
“Tina Turner, the ‘Queen of Rock’n Roll’ has died peacefully today at the age of 83 after a long illness in her home in Küsnacht near Zurich, Switzerland. With her, the world loses a music legend and a role model.”
The statement goes on to add: “There will be a private funeral ceremony attended by close friends and family. Please respect the privacy of her family at this difficult time.”
Turner got her big break as the lead singer of the duo Ike & Tina Turner. With her amazing singing, she captivated audiences worldwide and cemented the duo as one of the most iconic R&B acts of all time. Though she would eventually leave the duo, Turner also had an incredibly successful solo career. Over the course of that career, she released nine studio albums, her last one being 1999’s Twenty Four Seven.
Turner had an incredible voice powerful enough to command a room; among many fans and critics, she is considered one of the greatest singers of all time.
