Have you ever thought that maybe some folks are being too harsh on a band? Perhaps this particular band may not be your cup of tea, but you still recognize the great quality of their music.

There are a lot of metal and rock bands working today that, although they put out great music, tend to get shit on by folks (and honestly, that can be super unfair). Sometimes it becomes a meme of sorts to goof on a specific band, but it’s also important to recognize that that band is actually making some great art.

This idea got us thinking, so we brainstormed and compiled a list of the 10 most hated bands that are actually fantastic. These are bands that, within the metal and rock community, have gotten a lot of flack from audiences, but who ultimately make really awesome music.

Ghost

Ghost is one of the most polarizing bands in heavy music, with some screaming they aren’t a metal band and some screaming they are. Regardless of those points, Ghost is a kickass band that knows how to make exhilarating songs. As they’ve continued to work on their craft, Ghost has become one of the most exciting bands to see live and one of the most important bands working today.

Black Veil Brides

Black Veil Brides has caught a lot of shit for their use of makeup and attire – but remember Mötley Crüe? Remember KISS? Black Veil Brides has been judged far too harshly and deserves a lot more positive recognition. If you take the time to listen to their music, you will come to realize that the band actually makes pretty solid glam metal.

Asking Alexandria

Asking Alexandria has come a long way since their early metalcore days. Over the course of their 17-year-long career thus far, the band has built upon their artistry, weaving more musical style and creative flair into their material. Today, they are now a multi-layered metal band that offers elements of hardcore, metalcore, and electronics in their music. And hell, their early metalcore music is also pretty solid.

Limp Bizkit

In general, the subgenre of rap-metal deserves a lot more love, and one of the best in that genre is Limp Bizkit. Granted, the band does have a pretty massive fanbase, but they still catch shit at times (and that just isn’t right). Along with how extremely catchy and heavy the instrumental side of Limp Bizkit is, Fred Durst deserves a lot more credit for being one hell of a rapper.

Five Finger Death Punch

While Five Finger Death Punch may not be everyone’s cup of tea, you have to acknowledge the band for what they do, and that’s putting on exhilarating heavy metal performances. If you’re looking for a band that provides electrifying energy and moving emotion, all through the vehicle of heavy music, Five Finger Death Punch has you covered.

Nickelback

Over the years people have chilled out on Nickelback (and frankly, we all could have chilled out on the band a lot sooner). When it comes to modern rock, Nickelback is one of the best around; not only do they know how to create incredibly catchy tunes, but they also rock hard, giving their audiences songs and shows that are both moving and exciting.

Godsmack

Another hard rock band that deserves love and recognition for how much they’ve done in their career is Godsmack. Though it’s a shame that the band is not making any more new music, Godsmack has shared with the world a plethora of riveting rock songs that have the power to instill crowds with incredible adrenaline.

U2

While they are one of the greatest rock bands to ever exist, people will still dump on U2 from time to time. Their presentation of pop-rock is riveting, the band crafting songs that are both technically intriguing in how they flow, and creatively captivating in all the style and flair they express.

Sleep Token

Sleep Token have been around for a while now, but it’s recently that they’ve been experiencing a major boost in popularity. While some may not be overly fond of the band’s approach to dreamy, doomy pop-metal, what Sleep Token offer through their music is, truly, some of the most technically and creatively interesting music to come out of the genre in some time.

Insane Clown Posse

Listen… Insane Clown Posse is a lot of fun to listen to. Whether their music is super serious or super goofy, Insane Clown Posse knows how to craft a banger track. Through their production and rhymes, Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope know how to get a crowd pumped up and ready to mosh.
