Earlier today it was confirmed which bands and artists will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2023. Among those acts to be inducted, Rage Against the Machine will be entering the Rock Hall.

While a lot of folks are happy to hear this news, there’s also a lot of disappointment that neither Soundgarden nor Iron Maiden are being inducted.

Soundgarden is recognized by many as one of the biggest grunge bands of all time, while Iron Maiden is considered one of heavy metal’s greatest and most important bands.

During a conversation with Rock and Roll Hall of Fame CEO Greg Harris, Taryn Daly of Audacy brought up how many fans are upset that Maiden did not make the cut. Daly asks Harris how he feels when he hears that fans are very disappointed, and the CEO ends up sharing something that is quite interesting.

He first acknowledges that it is great that fans care so deeply for the bands they love, but he goes on to say that for a lot of acts that are nominated to enter the Rock Hall, “the odds are good that they’ll eventually” be inducted.

Here is exactly what Harris has to say (the following was transcribed by MetalSucks):

“We love that people care. That they care if they’re in or out, and that their fans care. The truth is anybody that’s nominated, the odds are good that they’re eventually gonna get in. In fact, I think it may be as high as 90% eventually go in.

“Rage, this was their sixth time, I believe, fifth time on the ballot, or sixth time. And so sometimes it takes a while. But let’s see where it lands. Right now, let’s celebrate this year’s class, and we can start to debate about next year’s class once the spotlight is off of this year’s class.”

What do you make of Harris’ points? Do you think this is a strong indication that one day, Iron Maiden will officially be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?
