While many know Phoebe Bridgers as one of the biggest artists in indie-rock today, she is also a metalhead.

Along with featuring deathcore font on her merch, Bridgers has been vocal about her love for metal in past interviews. As part of a past Rolling Stone artist-on-artist feature involving her and Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich, Bridgers shared that “A lot of metal is just metal to be metal — but Metallica write real songs.” She also said that she thinks “of Metallica as being a pop band.”

Also within that interview, the indie-rocker spoke about her love of Motörhead. More recently though, Bridgers decided to show off her fandom of nu-metal icons Disturbed to a whole stadium of pop and indie-rock fans.

Bridgers is currently on the road with Taylor Swift, with Bridgers performing as a supporting act. Per footage of a recent show of hers – shared by numetal_moment – Bridgers decided to walk out on stage to Disturbed’s “Down With The Sickness.”

As you can see in the footage below, Bridgers’ stage is massive, and on the TV screens that are part of the stage, “Phoebe Bridgers” is displayed in a deathcore-looking font.

As fans await for Bridgers to take to the stage, the stadium speakers blast the iconic nu-metal banger. And how do these pop and indie-rock fans respond? With tremendous cheer and roars of excitement. Some even start headbanging.

Eventually, Bridgers takes to the stage and starts playing one of her songs.

Without a doubt, this is so fucking cool to see; this moment may have been many people’s first introduction to metal. One individual who is very happy to see this tribute to the band is Disturbed singer David Draiman. Per a tweet of his, Draiman wrote the following in response to Bridgers playing “Down With The Sickness”:

“@phoebe_bridgers this is absolutely amazing!  Love it! You’re welcome to come see our show whenever you want!”

Below you will find the video of Bridgers walking out to “Down With The Sickness.”

Phoebe Bridgers is absolutely badass and one of the most talented musicians working today, and though her music predominately features an indie-rock sound, it would be awesome to hear her make a metal album. Are you a fan of Phoebe Bridgers’ music?
