With their Phantomime EP coming out soon, Ghost has released another song from the record, which happens to be their cover of Iron Maiden‘s “Phantom Of The Opera.”

The original version of this song was released in 1980 and appears on the self-titled Iron Maiden album.

Throughout Ghost’s career, the band has covered a variety of songs, and each one has been a banger. Look no further than their recent cover of Genesis’ “Jesus He Knows Me” – Ghost’s cover not only honors the spirit of the original song, but the band also brings in their own creative flair, slightly elevating the track.

So how does Ghost fair when it comes to covering Maiden? Actually, them covering an Iron Maiden song sounds fucking awesome.

When it comes to the original track, Paul Di’Anno (who was Maiden’s singer at the time “Phantom Of The Opera” came out), provides a stellar vocal performance; instrumentally speaking, the song sounds thrilling and takes the listener on a dramatic sonic rollercoaster.

In their cover of the song, Ghost not only capture that component of theatrical presentation, but they also spice it up, adding a little more intensity to the instrumental side of things.

Below you can check out the music video for Ghost’s cover of Iron Maiden’s “Phantom Of The Opera.”

The band’s Phantomime EP will be released on May 18th.
