Recently, it was announced that a new North American heavy metal festival titled “Power Trip” will be taking place later this year. For some folks, choosing to call the festival by this name may seem like an odd choice, given that there is already a band called Power Trip.
So, how does the thrash metal act feel when it comes to this festival using the same name as their band? Well, they are not that pleased.
Taking to Twitter, the thrash metal band posted a very simple statement; this statement was provided as part of a retweet involving a post from the “Power Trip festival” Twitter account. Said post features a visual trailer for the upcoming festival. Per the band, they simply wrote: “no”
It must feel odd for the band to see the name “Power Trip” being used to promote a huge metal festival, and the band is not even playing said fest. What do you make of this festival being called “Power Trip”?
As previously reported, the Power Trip metal festival will feature Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica, Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Tool, and Guns N’ Roses. Taking place over the course of three days – from October 6th to the 8th – the Power Trip heavy metal festival will be taking place at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. The breakdown of who will be playing on what days is as follows:
Friday: Guns N’ Roses and Iron Maiden
Saturday: AC/DC and Ozzy Osbourne
Sunday: Metallica and Tool
While this is one hell of an exciting lineup, it is also expensive as fuck to get in the door. That is because General Admission is starting at $599. Do you think seeing all six of these bands is worth that much money? To learn more about the event, visit the Power Trip website.
