Folk legend Bob Dylan is a fan of all different kinds of music and one of the acts he is a big fan of is Metallica. During a recent conversation with Lars Ulrich, an interviewer mentioned Dylan’s fandom of Metallica to the drummer; in response to this point, Ulrich expressed his appreciation of the singer-songwriter by issuing a very cool invite to him.

For context, during a conversation with The Wall Street Journal back in 2022, Dylan was asked how he discovers new music nowadays. Per his reply, Dylan shares the following, mentioning his fandom of Metallica and other acts:

“Performers and songwriters recommend things to me. Others I just wake up and they’re there. Some I’ve seen live. The Oasis Brothers, I like them both, Julian Casablancas, the Klaxons, Grace Potter. I’ve seen Metallica twice. I’ve made special efforts to see Jack White and Alex Turner. Zac Deputy, I’ve discovered him lately. He’s a one man show like Ed Sheeran, but he sits down when he plays.

“I’m a fan of Royal Blood, Celeste, Rag and Bone Man, Wu-Tang, Eminem, Nick Cave, Leonard Cohen, anybody with a feeling for words and language, anybody whose vision parallels mine.”

During an interview with NME, Ulrich was asked if he is aware of Dylan’s comments about seeing Metallica twice. In response to the question, the Metallica drummer replied with the following:

“I saw that. I don’t know if Bob reads the NME or not, but I have one thing to say to him: ‘Bob, you’re welcome at any Metallica show anywhere in the world at any time – but please come backstage and say hello. We’d love to meet you and pay our respects!’”

It’s pretty cool to learn that Bob Dylan is actually a big Metallica fan, and it’s really cool that Ulrich has extended such a welcoming invite to the folk legend.
