It has been a harrowing few months for Blaze Bayley.
After a severe heart attack in late March, it was announced that the former Iron Maiden singer and current Wolfsbane member would have to be admitted into the hospital and cancel a handful of shows. News of any kind of cardiac event is terrifying, but fears of fans were compounded earlier this month when it was announced that Bayley would require triple bypass surgery.
We are happy to report that the surgery was a success and Blaze is being discharged from the hospital! On Wednesday, April 19th, Mark Appleton and Christopher Appleton, both managers and concert booking agents for Blaze’s solo band, issued the following statement on social media:
“As with our previous update, we are delighted to say that Blaze’s surgery seems to have been a success & we’re really happy to report that he is now released from hospital & is at home to continue his recovery. Your messages, cards, merch purchases & donations are appreciated more than you may ever realise. As & when Blaze gets stronger he will have further updates & messages for you.”
There is still no word about the status of Bayley’s upcoming scheduled concerts from June through November. As per the initial statement from management a few weeks ago:
“He is in good spirits in the circumstances but utterly disappointed to have to postpone our imminent shows due in March & April. Ticket refunds will be available at source but we truly hope you will keep your tickets & make it to the new dates which we will be announcing as soon as they are scheduled.
“Regarding shows already booked for June-November this year, we understandably have to wait a short while to see how quick Blaze’s recovery will be, so please stay tuned & meanwhile most importantly we’re sure you will join us in wishing him a complete & speedy recovery.
“Blaze misses you, cannot wait to regain full health & see you all again. Every Storm Ends… ‘your heart will heal’ Thank you so much everyone for your understanding & support.”
