Addiction is an ugly, tragic disease that touches countless lives. There are not many people out there whose lives haven’t been touched in some way by the crippling effects of chemical dependency, whether it be directly or indirectly.

The past few weeks have been hard for rap-rock band Crazy Town. A video surfaced online from an April 22nd show at Hooligans Live in Jacksonville, NC in which co-vocalist Seth “Shifty Shellshock” Binzer was seen throwing a stage monitor. The next day, Shifty simply didn’t show up for the band’s gig at Boathouse Waterway Bar & Grill in Myrtle Beach, SC, forcing co-vocalist Bobby Reeves to perform both of their parts.

Another unfortunate video surface. This time, the footage shows an altercation that features a bloody and irate Reeves hurling racial slurs at Binzer, who in turn is berating Reeves for what he believes to be his cut of the band’s guarantee.

These and other undisclosed behind the scenes incidents culminated in Crazy Town’s dismissal from their tour supporting (hed)p.e., who issued the following statement (as transcribed by The PRP):

“Because of what’s going on with Seth and Crazy Town right now, Seth needs help. We can’t just sit by while he’s on the road battling demons to the death. He needs to get off the road and deal with that shit. So, you’ve seen the video. If it was just a fist fight between band members, maybe I could be the first one to kinda of mediate or some shit like that.

“But this is a lot deeper than that. It’s a lot messier, so it’s definitely sad for us you know. Because I consider Seth a homie, but [we] just couldn’t keep it going. And (hed)p.e. doesn’t support the shit that’s gone on and the shit that’s been done or been said by Crazy Town.

Unfortunately the story does not end there, as TMZ is now reporting that Binzer has been charged with DUI. The vocalist was arrested on the morning of April 25th for driving under the influence after police in Myrtle Beach, SC  were alerted to a black SUV driving erratically. Binzer, whose addictions have been addressed on the reality shows Celebrity Rehab and Sober House, was pulled from the vehicle and failed a sobriety test.

We wish Binzer and those close to him all of the best.
