A major Ghost announcement dropped on Easter? Yes indeed young, ghouls. The band is true to form and always very much on brand.

In today’s news from Tobias Forge and his spooky squad, we have the very rad news that there is new Ghost music upon us. Well, new, meaning an EP of covers. But we’re stoked regardless.

The band has just dropped a cover of Genesis’ early 90’s smash “Jesus He Knows Me,” which will be rounded out by covers from Television, The Stranglers, Tina Turner (yes really), and the metal gods themselves, Iron Maiden.

While the project might come as a surprise to some, Forge has been pretty vocal about his love for all things music, agnostic of labels and genres:

“I am a big fan of what most people would regard as ‘well-written’ music. I like music that moves me and makes me feel things and, more than often, it’s music that falls within a certain sort of pattern. But that could be anything from Fleetwood Mac to Venom.”

While he mentioned Judas Priest among his major influences, he debated whether to call them a heavy metal band saying: “I think that Judas Priest writes pop music. They have a very pop sensibility to their music.”

Given his perception of Priest, it’ll be interesting to hear how pop-leaning he takes this Maiden cover.

You can pre-order Phantomime here before it drops May 18, and listen to the Genesis cover HERE.
