If you haven’t checked in on what The Devil Wears Prada has been doing for the past few years, now’s a perfect time.

Today the band announced the deluxe edition of Color Decay, their 2022 standout album that made our best albums of 2022 list. As part of this re-release, they’re also bringing new tracks to the fold, including “Reaching.”

The video is a solid distillation of what the band has been working on for the past decade. Vocalists Mike Hranica and Jeremy DePoyster employ a nice chemistry, the former providing a solid level of aggression that doesn’t take away from the song’s catchiness. DePoyster on the flip delivers an earworm of a hook, slowing the song’s pace to a killer chorus.

Even with the aforementioned catchiness, the band still crushes a heavy breakdown, sure to satisfy any pit at a future show. It’s a hell of a single, adding to the already excellent collection of tracks in Color Decay. Nearly 20 years into their career, The Devil Wears Prada is now writing their best material to date.

In a statement, the band said the following about the album:

“We’ve been so proud of and grateful for Color Decay feedback, and with that, we’re releasing our first deluxe edition in 15 years. Listeners have all chimed in with favorited tracks and we’ve cooked up a bunch of videos; fast forward, we figured we had no choice but to grow the Color Decay universe even bigger.”

Singer Mike Hranica adds,

“‘Reaching’ is a song about unapologetic growth,” says Hranica. “I feel we often hear songs of resilience and strength that don’t really cover the dirty, harder times. It takes struggle and failure to better oneself, and I think that’s the soul of this tune.”
