Given that Metallica is a pop culture juggernaut, it only makes sense that they would have a museum dedicated to their history and art.
Such a museum comes in the form of the virtual “Metallica Black Box.” Per the official website for the Metallica Black Box:
“When you’ve been around for 40 years, you manage to collect a few things. Metallica is now officially unboxing their enormous personal collections – favorite photos, artwork, articles of clothing, journals, instruments, and so much more – and offering them up inside of this mysterious monolith known as the Metallica Black Box.”
Within some of the exhibits that make up this virtual museum, there are fascinating works of art that stand as creative interpretations of the band’s music; additionally, some of these pieces have been created by other metal and rock celebrities.
Recently, over on the Black box website, Metallica decided to share some pieces of art that were part of their 2012 show “Obey Your Master.” Some of the pieces involved in this show were made by talented musicians such as My Chemical Romance singer Gerard Way, Slipknot percussionist Shawn “Clown” Crahan, and Black Veil Brides singer Andy Biersack.
On the Metallica Black Box website, each of these works of art is provided with a caption that gives you a little insight into each respective piece.
The collection as a whole is truly incredible, with every artist involved providing astounding art.
