The horror community has been eating well so far in 2023, with a plethora of awesome films having already been released early in the year. You have Infinity Pool, Skinamarink, Knock at the Cabin, The Outwaters, and most recently, Scream 6.

Scream 6 was released not that long ago, and in the short amount of time it has been in theaters, it has already made $22 million internationally. Among the cast in Scream 6 is Jenna Ortega, who is quickly cementing herself as one of horror’s new “scream queens.”

During a recent interview with MTV, Ortega and other Scream 6 actors were asked a couple of different music-related questions, and one of those questions was “Best song for getting chased by Ghostface?”

While some classical musicians are mentioned, Ortega throws in one hell of a curve ball by mentioning a Deftones song.

What Deftones song is that? Well, per Ortega (as transcribed by Metal Hammer):

“It’s kind of a basic one. But it also goes along with this movie: Be Quiet And Drive (Far Away), the Deftones song. I feel like, they’re just trying to get away, that could be an interesting one, too.”

“Be Quiet And Drive (Far Away)” is a song off of the band’s 1997 studio album Around the Fur (and it is one hell of an awesome pick).

Later in the interview, Ortega is asked what theme song she would pick for her Scream character. In reply, she names both The Beatles’ “She’s Leaving Home” and the Nine Inch Nails song “The Way Out Is Through” (the latter is a song off of the band’s 1999 studio album The Fragile).

Given her fandom of Deftones and Nine Inch Nails, it would be awesome to learn what other metal/heavy music she is into. Scream 6 is currently playing in theaters. Among the horror movies that have come out so far in 2023, which ones are your favorite?
