James Hetfield is the guitarist and singer for one of the biggest metal bands in the world, and now he is taking a leap into acting.

Well, to be fair, Hetfield has taken on acting roles in the past; per a look at his IMDb page, you can see that he has done quite a bit of voice work, appearing in shows like The Simpsons and Metalocalypse. But now the Metallica frontman is taking on a live acting role.

As reported by Deadline, Hetfield will be starring alongside Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones) and Juliette Lewis (Natural Born Killers) in an upcoming western thriller titled The Thicket.

The film’s premise is as follows:

“Set in west Texas, the film follows a boy who, after his sister is kidnapped by a violent killer known only as Cut Throat Bill, enlists a fierce bounty hunter named Reginald Jones who grudgingly becomes the leader of the group of outcasts searching for the stolen girl.”

The Thicket is based on Joe R. Lansdale’s novel of the same name, and while the release date of the film has not been confirmed at this time, it appears it will be released on the streaming service Tubi.

It’s super cool to see Hetfield step further into the world of acting. Perhaps this is the start of a new career for him; alongside his work in The Thicket, maybe he’ll go on to act in other movies and TV shows.
