Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash has entered the horror movie business and started his own production company.
Per a report from Variety, Slash has teamed up with other individuals from the horror community to bring his production company “BerserkerGang” to life. Per a statement, the guitarist shares:
“I’ve always been a huge horror fan, especially going back to the days when horror movies actually scared the hell out of you. I want to get into the heart of the producing business so I can try and make movies that I’d like to see.”
Alongside Slash, BerserkerGang involves folks from Raven Banner (specifically, Michael Paszt, James Fler, and Andrew T. Hunt), Rodrigo Gudiño (a filmmaker and founder of the horror magazine Rue Morgue), and Hangar 18 Media’s Pasha Patriki.
Per a comment he shared with Variety, Hunt says: “The aim of BerserkerGang will be quality over quantity. We will be selectively choosing projects that we collectively feel best represent the brand.”
Paszt shares: “Our goal is to develop projects with filmmakers and writers who are just as passionate about genre films as we are.”
Gudiño shares: “The company slogan is ‘Films Forged in Fury,’ if that’s any indication of where we plan on venturing.”
At the time of this writing, no projects have been announced through BerserkerGang.
In other horror movie news related to Slash, he did receive credits as composer and executive producer on The Breach, which premiered at last year’s Fantasia Film Festival. The film was produced by Hangar 18 Media, and Slash had teamed up with Gudiño and the folks at Raven Banner to work on the film.
It’s always awesome to see metalheads taking on career opportunities in the world of horror. Watch out Rob Zombie, between Slash and Corey Taylor, it looks like you are going to have some competition.
