Since this past December, Pantera has been on the road and taking part in several metal festivals.

In 2023, the band is set to take part in multiple tours, as well as a couple of other festivals; however, when it comes to two fests Pantera was set to perform at, they have since been removed.

Pantera was initially going to perform at both Rock Am Ring and Rock Im Park, but due to protests, have been removed from both festivals.

The reason behind these protests was due to Phil Anselmo‘s past insensitive actions – specifically, when the frontman threw out a Sieg Heil (a nazi salute), as well as shouting “White Power” at a 2016 Dimebash concert.

During a recent interview with Guitar World, Pantera guitarist Zakk Wylde was asked about his reaction to these festival cancellations. He said,

“There’s nothing I can do about that, you know what I mean? In terms of my role, it’s always a case of being ready for whatever – as in seeing if the fellas want to add any more songs or anything like that while we’re out rolling together on this tour. If I get a call from Phil or Rex and they want to change up the set or do whatever, I’m usually just in the back lounge working on more songs!”

What do you make of Pantera being removed from these two metal festivals? As it stands now, Pantera will be continuing forward with every other show they have announced. If you are interested in seeing the band live, you can find all their upcoming tour dates below.
