A British Radio host named Chris Moyles found himself in a bit of hot water this week for possibly spilling the beans on some confidential Foo Fighters info.

While jamming out to Foo Fighters’ ‘Walk’ on air, Moyles got a little carried away in the music and made an on-air mention of a new Foo Fighters album that might be weeks away from hitting the public’s ears:

“I love that song so much – Foo Fighters, and ‘Walk’… They’ve got a new album coming out in, er, March, Foo Fighters… which I’m very much looking forward to.”

Naturally, Foo Fighters fans ran with the news and caused so much online commotion that poor Chris had to go back on air to apologize to Dave and crew, saying: “I’ve caused a bit of a kerfuffle. I’m in a very uncomfortable cul-de-sac and I don’t really know what to do… I’ve made the website of another radio station!” Strong sense of humor clearly intact, Moyles went on to add:

“I don’t know what to say without getting in trouble, I don’t know what to say without people going, ‘what?’, I don’t know what to say without looking stupid…I don’t know what people want me to say.

I think people want me to say, ‘Yes, I can’t say anything else, I can’t say anymore but yes, I’m telling you there is a new album coming out in March this year.’ I’m not going to say any of that.”

Realizing that saying more would only dig himself into a deeper hole, Moyles apologizes to Mr. Dave Grohl: “Look, all I will say is this… I can’t say anymore… anyway, sorry Dave. I’m really sorry Dave.”

Hmmm, seems a bit suspicious. Was the radio station fishing for publicity? Or was this an actual honest mistake? It’s worth noting that despite all the press this has caused, neither Grohl nor reps from the Foos’ camp have responded.

Here’s hoping it was indeed a facts-based slip of the tongue and that there’s a new Foo Fighters album right around the corner.
