Recently, the 2023 nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame were announced, and among those nominees are Iron Maiden, Soundgarden, and Rage Against the Machine. The Rock Hall has officially opened up voting for their “Fans’ Ballot,” allowing fans to vote for who they’d like to see be inducted.

Per the site where fans can vote, the following information is provided:

“The top five artists, as selected by the public, will comprise a ‘Fans’ Ballot’ that will be tallied along with the other ballots to choose the 2023 inductees.”

As it stands right now, the top five votes are as follows:

In first place is Cyndi Lauper (with 122,560 votes). In second place is George Michael (with 119,911 votes). Third place goes to Warren Zevon (who has 95,326 votes). Fourth place goes to Soundgarden (who has 94,224 votes). And in fifth place, there is Willie Nelson (who has 92,135 votes).

So, as it stands right now, these are the five musical acts that could very well be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. But where do Iron Maiden and Rage Against the Machine officially stand?

At the time of this writing, Iron Maiden is in sixth place (with a total of 88,006 votes); Rage Against the Machine is in eighth place (with a total of 70,176 votes). RATM is right behind Joy Divison + New Order.

Voting will be open for some time, so if you have yet to cast your vote, you still have a chance. What do you make of the current top five musical acts that folks have been voting for? Do you think Iron Maiden and Rage Against the Machine – or at least one of them – should be in the top five by now?

While the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has recognized many amazing musical acts over the years, there is also a plethora of incredible artists/bands they have wrongly ignored. Just the other day, we wrote up a feature that covers the 10 musical acts that the Rock Hall has snubbed. You can check out that full article via the link below.
