Among the live performances that stand out from this year’s Grammys event, Sam Smith’s is easily one of the best.
The pop singer took to the stage and offered a theatrical performance brimming with chilling and sexy energy. Alongside Kim Petra, Smith performed their song “Unholy.”
Smith, Petra, and the performers who danced alongside them were all dressed in red, and everyone was bathed under deep red light. There were flames, Petra was dancing in a cage – it was a fantastic performance.
And that sentiment is shared by many folks, including Disturbed frontman David Draiman. Having seen Smith and Petra’s performance, Draiman was blown away, sharing on Twitter how “Sam Smith just set the bar for EVERYONE last night.”
Draiman’s whole tweet reads as follows:
“Lol, I don’t want anyone ever saying that Hard Rock/Heavy Metal live performances are too “extreme” for the @RecordingAcad telecast Because @samsmith just set the bar for EVERYONE last night.”
If you haven’t checked out Smith’s performance of “Unholy” yet, then you should absolutely do so; a video of that performance has been included below.
When it comes to other stories involving Draiman and pop stars – last year, he came to the defense of Lil Nas X after a TV show host made some nasty remarks about the rapper. And more recently, Draiman challenged Justin Bieber to a smoke-off. Links to both of these stories can be found below.
