Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan has a lot of passions and talents. He is a phenomenal vocalist (heading one of the biggest bands in metal), he is a published author, he’s done some acting, and he makes wine.
Another one of Keenan’s big hobbies though is the martial arts sport of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu; in fact, this is an interest of his that he’s so passionate about that the Tool singer is taking part in a class where he will be teaching folks about the sport (and you can sign up to be part of this class).
As reported by Metal Hammer, Keenan will be hosting “An Introduction to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu” at Verde Valley BJJ next month. Per a post on the Verde Valley BJJ Instagram account, the following details are provided:
“Heads up to any Jiu Jitsu aficionados traveling to AZ to attend the Super Bowl.
“Cottonwood is just a short drive north from Phx. Maynard James Keenan will be hosting ‘An Introduction to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu’ on Sat, Feb 11th at the new Verde Valley BJJ facility.
“This is a detailed orientation for Beginners, White belts, and Blue belts. Upper belts are welcome to attend.
“There will be 2 sessions and space is limited. Visit verdevalleybjj.com for details. To book your spot, call 928-963-6173 or email coordinator@verdevalleybjj.com.”
Having the chance to be taught Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu by Maynard James Keenan sounds surreal as hell. Per the ad, this special class will cost folks $199.99 (and it comes with a t-shirt). You can find the ad shared by Verde Valley BJJ below.
Will you be signing up for this class? At the time of this writing, Keenan is a Brown Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Below you will find links to other stories involving the Tool frontman.
