Jack Black is a funny guy.

Black has explored humor in both music and film, due in a huge part to his band Tenacious D. It’s been a minute since he and collaborator Kyle Gass have last worked on anything D-related, last releasing Post-Apocalypto in 2018.

But it looks like things could be heating up very soon. Or not, and Jack Black is totally trolling everybody.

Black and Gass recently spoke to SiriusXM about the band’s future, and what the two have been up to. Black says,

“I am playing music with [Tenacious D co-founder] Kyle Gass. We’re still touring and we got a very big project coming up that I can’t really tell you anything about” and that the band has “a concept album coming down the pike.”

The duo is then asked if there’s any hope that a sequel to the band’s 2006 film Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny or the cult favorite School of Rock, starring Black and directed by Richard Linklater. Black jokes and says,

“Yup. Both of them. Breaking news. We’re thinking about doing both of those.”

Gass adds,

“It’s a hybrid – a school of D.”

So, likely nothing in the meantime, and likely Jack Black is pulling everyone’s chain. For a bit of sincerity, Black gave props to Evanescence singer Amy Lee, recounting Lee giving props to the D on IG:

“She posted on her Instagram. She was like, ‘I’m playing ‘Louder Than Life’. Oh, my God, listen to this lineup. You got Nine Inch Nails, zoobity boobity from the twelfth planet of Mars, and me. We got to do a collab. Tenacious D is going to be there. Come on, Tenacious D. If you’re listening to my Insta, let’s do a collab.’ And we were like, ‘of course we’re gonna collab with you.'”

Black then went on to describe the performance, saying,

“And we worked out a little comedy bit so she would come out [like] I was too emotional, I needed someone to help. So we called out Amy Lee to come and sing the next song. And then she said, ‘You know what would be funny is if, at the end of the bit, you chased me around like a psycho stalker, and I ran off stage to escape you.’ And it was a great idea, she’s actually really funny, as well as one of the great vocalists.”

All in all, a good interview for all fans of Jack Black and Tenacious D. Check it out below.
