Corey Taylor is a workhorse.

Between Slipknot, Stone Sour and his solo endeavors, you’re unlikely to ever catch him not at work on something music related.

Recently, we reported that he’s apparently back in the studio working on a new record, and now we’ve got clarity on exactly what he’s working on.

Taylor took to Instagram over the weekend to share an update, saying that he is indeed working on a new solo record, and gave details about what fans can expect, saying,

“I’m really, really excited. I mean, everything’s just bigger this time. Everything sounds better. Everything’s running better. Everything’s running hot. Instead of where I came from, this is where I’m going. Musically, it’s harder. It’s faster, but there’s still tons of stuff from the first album. So, there’s elements of Slipknot. There’s elements of Stone Sour. There’s elements of ‘CMFT.’ There’s elements of the stuff that I’ve been doing for years. Just, like, cover-wise or whatever.

He expanded on what’s driving him to do the record, saying

All the stuff that I’ve always wanted to do. We are just… we’re doing that. Just cranking it up and it all sounds so fucking good, that I can’t even describe to you how stoked I am to be starting on this. And today’s the day. Today’s the day. Today’s the fucking one. Let’s get going! I’m serious as a heart attack. Nobody is ready for what they’re about to hear, for real. But first, we gotta record it.”

Right now it’s unknown when Slipknot’s next album will be coming out, although there have been hints that it can be as soon as the band’s record deal is up. It also remains to be seen when new Stone Sour is coming. In the meantime, another solo record from Corey Taylor should satiate the hungry masses.
