Anthrax is currently on the road and touring alongside Black Label Society and Exodus, however, band drummer Charlie Benante is stepping away from performing for a little bit.

Unfortunately, Benante is in need of taking care of some health matters (nothing serious, per the band).

A statement has been provided via Anthrax social media regarding Benante’s temporary exit, as well as who will be covering for Anthrax drummer.

Per that statement provided by the band:

“Our man who beats the beat – Charlie Benante – has stepped away from the tour for a few days to have a minor procedure done and will not be at the next few shows.

“Never fear, the formidable Derek Roddy is filling in while Charlie is away – and no worries, Charlie will be back soon. In the meantime, the metal is still heavy and the show must go on. We’ll see you there!”

Roddy has made a hell of a name for himself in the world of drumming. He has performed for such bands as Nile, Malevolent Creation, and Divine Empire (just to name a few).

That said, Roddy is perhaps most well-known for his work in Hate Eternal.

While Benante takes time to address these health matters and rest up, Roddy makes for a great choice for a fill-in Anthrax drummer. If you are interested in seeing the band live, you can find all their upcoming tour dates and locations listed below.
