It’s a good time to be a fan of Phil Anselmo.

With Pantera’s newest incarnation on tour, Anselmo is on his biggest tour in a long time, playing some insane festivals with other metal greats. The band is currently in South America celebrating their return, and a recent stop brought them to Santiago, Chile for Knotfest and in contact with fellow legends Sepultura.

Anselmo and Sepultura decided to tackle the latter’s classic “Arise” from the band’s 1991 album of the same name. Anselmo sounds totally at home with Sepultura, delivering some driving yells and working perfectly in sync with what Derrick Green is delivering.

In other news, some unfortunate news from the Pantera camp today as Rex Brown will be sitting out the band’s remaining dates for the year due to testing positive for COVID today.

On Instagram, the band posted:

“Thanks to all of our fans & everyone at Knotfest Chile for an amazing show. Thanks to Derek Engenmann & Bobby Landgraf for handling bass duties last night.

A note from Rex: ‘I caught a very mild strain of Covid, but because of our own protocols, I simply do not wanna risk getting my brothers or the crew sick!! I’m feeling better & am on my way to a speedy recovery. Merry Fckn Christmas & see you all next Year!’”

It’s sad news, but hopefully, Rex recovers soon. In the meantime, check out the collab below and see where they’ll be touring next.
