It’s sort of a self-fulfilling prophecy that there would be a lot of Scream films.
With that in mind, a trailer for the latest entry, Scream 6, just released.
The trailer puts the viewer on a very busy subway train seemingly on Halloween. Numerous people fill the train, all wearing a variety of spooky costumes of werewolves and the like. None more spooky perhaps than Ghostface, who stalks Sandy Carpenter and crew. The trailer ends with the group worried about who is in the mask, as the trailer ends with the subway lights flickering (a common New York City experience) and Ghostface going to choke Mindy Meeks-Martin (a less common experience.)
The trailer for the film says the following,
“In a city of millions, no one hears you scream. Check out the terrifying teaser trailer for Scream VI.
Following the latest Ghostface killings, the four survivors leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter. In Scream VI, Melissa Barrera (“Sam Carpenter”), Jasmin Savoy Brown (“Mindy Meeks-Martin”), Mason Gooding (“Chad Meeks-Martin”), Jenna Ortega (“Tara Carpenter”), Hayden Panettiere (“Kirby Reed”), and Courteney Cox (“Gale Weathers”) return to their roles in the franchise alongside Jack Champion, Henry Czerny, Liana Liberato, Dermot Mulroney, Devyn Nekoda, Tony Revolori, Josh Segarra, and Samara Weaving.
Scream VI is written by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick. It is produced by William Sherak, James Vanderbilt, and Paul Neinstein. Kevin Williamson, Gary Barber, Peter Oillataguerre, Chad Villella, Courteney Cox, Ron Lynch, Cathy Konrad, and Marianne Maddalena serve as executive producers.
Scream VI, directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, opens in US theaters on March 10, 2023.”
Going to the big city is always an interesting move for horror movies. All slasher icons seem destined for New York City, like Jason Voorhees in Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan.
