Back in 2020, Puddle Of Mudd member Wes Scantlin decided to perform a cover of the Nirvana song “About A Girl,” and oh boy… it did not land well with folks.
Technically the song went viral, but not in the most positive way. Many folks tore into Scantlin for the cover, and while the Puddle Of Mudd singer was defensive at first, he has since come around to owning his wonky rendition of the Nirvana track.
During a recent conversation with Songfacts, Wes Scantlin is asked about this cover, and in reflecting upon his performance, he says “It looked and sounded like total shit.”
Here is everything that the Puddle Of Mudd member had to say about his Nirvana cover:
“Oh yeah, you know what? I was acclimating and it was a tiring day, and I had already performed five or six songs at one time, and by the time I got to that one – which I shouldn’t even have done because I cannot nail that song – I was a little tired.
“It looked and sounded like total shit. But live to fight another day, dude.”
