After months of hype, the Pantera reunion is finally here.

Long-scheduled, the band’s first gig in 20 years is taking place tonight at Mexico’s Heaven & Hell Metal Fest, and footage of the gig is starting to leak out.

One Instagram user, tsd_mexico, was on hand to record the band sound checking, which you can hear below. You can hear the band riff through “Cowboys From Hell” and see the massive video production set up for the gig.

It’s hard to get a full feeling for how the band is sounding aside from Zakk Wylde’s guitar playing due to the quality of the recording and the fan singing along (who, honestly we can’t blame). But it’s a good sign that everything coming is going to be absolutely massive.

More than anything, it’s whetting our appetite to see Phil Anselmo along with Wylde, Rex Brown and Charlie Benante thrash some old classics.

Recently, the Vinnie Paul estate made their feelings on the reunion known with the following statement:

“There can never be a Pantera reunion without Vinnie and Dime. However, there is no better way to celebrate and honor Vinnie and Dime’s legacy, than to bring the music of PANTERA directly to the fans. We are honored that Charlie and Zakk, their very close friends and musical brothers, will share the stage with Philip and Rex, to unleash the power of PANTERA live around the world. The Vincent Paul Abbott Estate”

The reformed Pantera reunion is also scheduled to open for Metallica’s upcoming world tour, which was announced earlier this week. Check out the full dates below to see when Pantera will be crushing an arena near you, and check out the sound check footage below.
