For you Metallica fans out there, there is even more amazing news! Along with the upcoming 2023 and 2024 Metallica x Pantera tour, the thrash legends have also released a brand new song today, and have announced a new album!

The new song is titled “Lux Æterna” and it is fucking awesome! This track is a thrilling work of thrash metal, and it gets us really pumped up for the upcoming new Metallica album, 72 Seasons. This is the band’s 12th studio album, with their most recent studio album release being 2016’s Hardwired… to Self-Destruct.

Per the band’s official website, 72 Seasons will be released on April 14th, 2023. Regarding the album’s title, per the website, band guitarist James Hetfield shares the following:

“72 seasons. The first 18 years of our lives that form our true or false selves. The concept that we were told ‘who we are’ by our parents. A possible pigeonholing around what kind of personality we are. I think the most interesting part of this is the continued study of those core beliefs and how it affects our perception of the world today. Much of our adult experience is reenactment or reaction to these childhood experiences. Prisoners of childhood or breaking free of those bondages we carry.”

You can check out the music video for the brand-new Metallica song “Lux Æterna” below. You will also find the album cover artwork and tracklist associated with 72 Seasons below.
