If Beethoven were alive today, would he fuck with metal? Would he scoff at Metallica’s S&M, or run head first at a paycheck for S&M part 3? Would he respect the technical intricacy & mathematical composition of a Blood Incantation?

We’d like to think that of all of the modern musical genres outside of classical music, he’d see metal for the intelligent and sophisticated art form that we metalheads know it to be.

YouTuber Kristina Schiano and fellow musician Cole Rolland made what we think is a damn impressive reinterpretation of Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata (3rd movement).

Not the most metal of jams on the surface, but with some sick shredding and precise double kick applied, we wouldn’t laugh at you if mistook it for a new Blind Guardian track.

With 5 million views of the video, clearly others are feeling it, too.

Whether it’s your cup of tea musically or not, you gotta give it up for the talent involved here. We can barely hold a pair of sticks. Hell, we can barely remember what’s on the grocery list, let alone the hundreds of rapid fire notes and articulations going down here. Hat tip to Laughing Squid.
