Welcome back to The Pit’s Favorite Riffs, where we share five new killer metal songs that have recently come out and that we love! Here are the metal songs we highlighted from last week!

As always, our goal with this feature is to shine a light on more underground metal bands. This week, we are bringing you a nice variety of black metal, death metal, hardcore, and more.

Liturgy – “93”

Without a doubt, Liturgy is truly one of the most fascinating acts in all of black metal; listen to any of their songs, and you will discover a remarkable composition brimming with technical finesse and stylistic flair. We are highlighting the first song off the band’s new mini album As the Blood of God Bursts the Veins of Time; in 2023, Liturgy will be releasing a brand new LP.

ANCST – “Heerbann

Offering ominous sounding black metal – infused with elements of death metal, hardcore, and grind – ANCST makes for a captivating force of emotion and aggression. “Heerbann” features the incredible duality of the band – providing a mesmerizing atmosphere that one could lose themselves in, even if that atmosphere also reeks of grime and anger.

Wednesday 13 – “Good Day To Be A Bad Guy”

You can always count on Wednesday 13 to bring exhilarating horror-rock to audiences! Wednesday has a new album out today titled Horrifier, and to celebrate that release, we are highlighting his latest single “Good Day To Be A Bad Guy.”

Faceless Burial – “Equipoise Recast”

Want some utterly crushing death metal for your weekend? Then make sure to check out the new record from Faceless Burial, At the Foothills of Deliration. “Equipoise Recast” makes for a great sample taste of the sonic menace this band has to offer throughout all their material.

Cloud Rat – “Corset”

“Corset” is a great track to introduce folks to the thrilling grind and hardcore that is Cloud Rat. This band constantly delivers on full throttle aggression; while the band does present moody and droning atmospheres throughout their material, Cloud Rat is a band that has you gripped from the start.

Of course, this is but a small taste of the many awesome metal releases that are out today. What are some new metal songs/albums that you are listening to now or plan to check out over the course of this weekend?
