It seems that the guys in Slayer really enjoy that of the Alice In Chains album Dirt; for while Slayer bassist and vocalist Tom Araya performed on the record, that album also contains fellow Slayer guitarist Kerry King’s favorite song from the band. Both bands toured alongside each other during the iconic ’90s metal tour, Clash Of The Titans.

As part of a feature involving Metal Hammer, King was asked to name his favorite Alice In Chains song; replying to this, Kerry picked one of the most iconic songs the band has ever created. Below is what he had to say about that song:

“‘Them Bones’ is such a great song. Super-short, heavy, great video and these really haunting vocal melodies. Those dudes were untouchable on their first two records, they were really vibing as a band and Layne [Staley] was just a superstar.

They played on the Clash Of The Titans, and on the first couple of dates we’d be backstage going, “Who is that with that fucking voice?” And we started going out to watch the entire set every night. It was just one of those moments.”

“Them Bones” is easily one of the most fan beloved songs among the band’s catalog. Is it your personal favorite track? The Alice In Chains album Dirt just celebrated its 30th anniversary last month. Do you have any fond memories associated with the release of Dirt?

In other news related to the band, we recently wrote about the sad story of Layne Staley’s last Alice in Chains studio session. We also shared a version of the band’s song “Rooster” that only features the vocals of the late Layne Staley (heads up, it sounds chilling).

In other Kerry King related news, the guitarist recently talked about the one Slayer album he regrets making. Can you guess which album that might be? To find out, follow this link here.
