We have to explicitly state right now that, at the time of this writing, this is just a rumor. Per Metal Sludge, they report that they have been “tipped off from a few in the industry” that guitarist John 5 is being considered to take on the role of guitarist in Mötley Crüe.

Last night, we shared a story regarding John 5 being absent from a recent Rob Zombie show; rather than John be on stage alongside the band, Zombie introduced that of guitarist Mike Riggs (who was in Zombie’s band for several years in the past). John 5’s absence has gotten many to wonder if he has left Rob Zombie’s band.

Regarding this Mötley Crüe rumor – we know that the band have plans to do more touring in the future (given how wildly successful their past summer tour was, we assume the band is game for many more shows). If John were to step in for the band though, that would probably mean that Mötley Crüe guitarist Mick Mars would be stepping out for upcoming shows.

Without hearing from the supposed sources who have tipped off Metal Sludge, we cannot confirm at this time if such a lineup shift is taking place. But if it were to happen – how do you feel about John 5 playing guitar for Mötley Crüe? We will absolutely keep you posted on any developments pertaining to this story and that of John 5’s status in Rob Zombie’s band.

In other news related to Mötley Crüe, band singer Vince Neil recently talked about the one album from the band that he hates. During one of the band’s concerts this past summer, a fan vocalized how upset they were with all the nudity that was present at that particular show. Among the comments that the fan made, they said, “It was like Sodom and Gomorrah; it was crazy.”
