During a recent live show of Rob Zombie‘s (which took place on October 6th), guitarist John 5 was nowhere to be seen on stage. Per this reporting from Rock Feed, John 5 and Rob Zombie apparently “no longer follow each other on social media.”
Rather than John come out and play guitar, Zombie actually introduced Mike Riggs, who used to perform alongside Rob Zombie from 1997 to 2003; Riggs was featured on the Rob Zombie albums Hellbilly Deluxe and The Sinister Urge.
Rob made no mention of John 5’s absence during this show, so we have to wonder obviously… What is going on with John 5? Could John 5 no longer be part of Rob Zombie’s band? Now granted, there could have been a personal matter that came up and that is why John could not play.
However, Rock Feed’s mentioning of the two musicians no longer following on each other on social media does come across as an odd thing; why don’t the two musicians follow each other now?
John 5 joined Rob Zombie’s band back in 2005 and has been playing in the band since. John has been part of the following Rob Zombie albums: Educated Horses, Hellbilly Deluxe 2: Noble Jackals, Penny Dreadfuls and the Systematic Dehumanization of Cool, Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor, The Electric Warlock Acid Witch Satanic Orgy Celebration Dispenser, and The Lunar Injection Kool Aid Eclipse Conspiracy.
At the time of this writing, we have not found any additional information provided via either Rob Zombie’s or John’s social media accounts. There has been no official announcement regarding John’s status in the band (but of course, we hope all is good and well among the members of the band). If there is to be any sort of major announcement, we will keep you posted.
Below you will find footage of Zombie’s recent performance without John 5.
