Rob Zombie released two Halloween movies in 2007 and 2009, respectively. His first entry is a more or less retelling of the original 1987 Halloween movie, with more of a personal flair thrown in regarding Michael Myers’ childhood. Rob Zombie’s Halloween 2 is a sequel that covers the ripple effect that Michael’s rampage has had on Laurie Strode (primarily by exploring her trauma and psychologic descent).
While these Halloween movies did financially well for themselves, critics were mostly pretty harsh when it came to both films. Hell, even some audience members were not wild for these movies. All that said, there has been a cult following growing over the past few years when it comes to Zombie’s Halloween movies. Across various social media platforms, you will find folks talking about how Zombie’s Halloween movies are actually great.
However, while it is great for Rob to be getting all this love, it seems that his experience filming those two movies has burnt him out when it comes to the horror franchise. Over on his Instagram, Rob shared a funny photo that features a split image – each image features the same guy at his computer. One split shows the year 2007, the other says 2022. In the 2007 split, the guy is talking smack about Rob Zombie’s Halloween movies, and in the 2022 split, the guy is now praising them.
Alongside this photo, Rob wrote a caption where he speaks to finding these kinds of images to be funny as hell. He also says that he has not seen the new Halloween movies yet (referring to David Gordon Green’s triology), and speaks to his experience creating his Halloween movies.
“I have been getting bombarded with these and it just keeps on getting funnier and funnier. 🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃FYI – I have no opinion on the new films . I haven’t seen them yet. My experience with making my films was so insane it really burnt me out on Halloween. Sad but true. I just think the internet is hilarious. 🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃 #robzombie #halloween”
Have you seen Halloween Ends yet? What are your thoughts on the movie if you have seen it? What do you think of Rob Zombie’s Halloween movies?
