A new episode of Piggy D’s Monsters and Metal has recently been uploaded and it features a very special guest: Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett! Piggy asks Kirk a plethora of horror movie related questions, looking to learn more about the guitarist’s relationship to the horror genre.

At one point, Kirk ends up talking about two horror movies that had a real big impact on him (given that they freaked him the fuck out). One of those movie’s is that of 1974’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, which Hammett says (as transcribed by Metal Injection) “truly frightened [me]… there hadn’t been a film like that up to that point that was so graphic and violent in its brutality…. It was a real experience.”

Another horror movie that really got to Kirk is that of The Exorcist. Talking about that film, Hammett shares the following: “I thought the perpetrators of that film were coming after me next … it was an honest fear when we were kids. For the next four months I slept with the lights on every single night.”

We have to admit, the first time we saw The Exorcist, it also really freaked us out too! Funny enough, at some point in the future, we will be getting a new Exorcist movie! It will be directed by David Gordon Green (who just recently wrapped up his Halloween trilogy). Speaking of Halloween, we wrote up a feature speaking to why we feel Halloween Ends deserves more love than what it has gotten. In fact, we think it is one of the most interesting slasher films we have seen in some time.

You can check out the newest episode of Metal and Monsters below featuring Kirk Hammett. We wish all our readers a very Happy Halloween!! Have an awesome one! What horror movies will you be watching today?
