Some months ago we heard that there was going to be a new Super Mario Bros. Movie; this time around though, Mario would not come in the form of live-action, but animated.
To the dismay of many, actor Chris Pratt is voicing the iconic Nintendo plumber; joining Pratt though is a variety of actors voicing other iconic Mario related characters. You have Anya Taylor-Joy (The VVitch) as Princess Peach, Charlie Day (Always Sunny in Philadelphia) as Luigi, Keegan-Michael Key (Key & Peele) as Toad, Seth Rogen (Pineapple Express) as Donkey Kong, and Jack Black (of Tenacious D and School of Rock) as Mario’s big bad Bowser!
The trailer for this new movie just came out the other day, and while we do get to briefly hear what Pratt’s Mario sounds like, we also get to hear what Jack Black’s Bowser sounds like! Also, from what we can tell from this brief trailer – this movie looks like it is going to be hilarious. You can check out the trailer for the upcoming Super Mario Bros. Movie below (which will be out in 2023). Will you be watching this movie?
In some video game related news, Trivium frontman Matt Heafy is a hardcore gamer and recently gushed over his love of Doom, Call Of Duty, and GoldenEye (and other titles). Undeath vocalist Kyle Beam has also shared what he feels are perfect video games for metalheads (spoiler alert: he mentions some really incredible games)!
In other Jack Black related news – back in June, Jack and fellow Tenacious D member Kyle Gass shared that the band have new music in the works! Among the comments shared regarding this new music, Jack Black said, “We got another record we’re making, but we can’t really talk about it because it’s too powerful. We’ve been going on writer’s retreats – yeah, we went to Joshua Tree to kick out the jams and make the magic happen in the desert.”
