Back in 1992, Faith No More went out on tour as support for Guns N’ Roses and Metallica; however, as Faith No More singer Mike Patton shares in a new interview, that tour was not the greatest experience.
Speaking to The Guardian, Patton reflected on that time and the stadium tour that Faith No More took part in. He shares that Guns N’ Roses really pissed him and the band off, and how things started to escalate between the two acts. This is what Mike Patton shared regarding this matter:
“Guns N’ Roses pissed us off because they didn’t talk to us. At a certain point, we started talking shit in the press, and then they got pissed off and threatened to fire us off the tour. We were like: ‘OK. If we deserve it, then fine.’ But they didn’t do it.”
Eventually, things got so rough between the two acts that Patton decided to piss on their teleprompter! That said, there is also another story involving Mike Patton being pissed off with Guns N’ Roses (and this story involves a different bodily fluid).
Per a 2021 interview with Ultimate Classic Rock, there was also a time where Patton put actual shit inside a cake belonging to the band! Per Mike:
“What I did is I took a chocolate cake. It was at a big table of catering. I took this cake and I put some of my shit inside of it, [then] put it back there. And then we watched, because I was hoping like, ‘Oh, maybe Axl Rose will eat it.’ Instead, our crew guy fuckin’ picks it up. He’s about it eat it and I’m like, ‘Don’t do it! Don’t do it!’ Like, at the last second.”
